We at Taylors Tobacconists of Brighton and Hove recommend the ten of the best cigars for your birthday celebrations. In no particular order we have:
– AJ Fernandez Robusto (Nicaraguan Cigar): The leathery and woody aromas are underscored by creamy chocolate, coconut and a pinch of pepper. Then a fine forest floor scent with mushrooms, spices and a fruity note comes through and again and again a fine sweetness.
– Punch Coronation (Cuban Cigar): Several test cigars don’t draw; others are chocolatey, with delicate pepper, roasted and earthy aromas. Toward the end, there is a nice competition between nougat sweetness, cedar and child spice.
– Vegafina Fortaleza (Dominican Republic Cigar): Aromas of chocolate, coffee and earth are peppered up by pepperiness and notes of spice. This is followed by dried fruit, some eucalyptus freshness, nutty aromas, and toward the end a mild child sharpness.
– Montecristo No.4 (Cuban Cigar): At first this corona develops herbal notes of foliage and earth – later of wood, coffee and nuts. Cocoa and leathery notes, as well as a light caramel sweetness can be found in the creamy smoke. Magnificent ash.
– Cohiba Siglo II (Cuban Cigar): Sweet dark chocolate with toasty undertones, spices and peppery sharpness accompany the first third. Around half way, this cigar develops coffee and woody aromas. Perfectly balanced and harmonious.
– Bolivar Belicoso (Cuban Cigar): This cigar releases intense nutty and woody aromas, which is accentuated by a fruity sweetness and delicate peppery spice. In the second half, in the creamy, velvety smoke, a lot of spice is added.
– Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No.2 (Cuban Cigar): The roasted and bread aromas are complemented by a pleasant pepperiness and fruity chocolate sweetness. Toward the halfway mark, heath and peaty notes are added. A fine-spicy, harmonious cigar.
– Romeo y Julieta No.1 (Cuban Cigar): This beautiful cigar comes in a tube. The cedar and earthy aromas are supported by creaminess, some peppery spice and a delicate tartness. In addition, the light sweetness of cinnamon and white chocolate and coffee aromas develop.
– Partagas Serie D.4 (Cuban Cigar): An outstanding aroma and the conspicuous peppery sharpness are balanced out by a pleasant cocoa sweetness. Delicate wood notes complete this flavourful, harmonious cigar.
– Oliva V (Nicaraguan Cigar): Abundant earthy aromas combine with underlying cedary and nutty aromas. Then there is a nice peppery kick, the sweetness of honey, cinnamon and molasses and a lot of spice. Balanced and harmonious to be enjoyed.
